Stress, threats and gentle shock are something we all are exposed to many times in our lives and fortunately our body is equipped to handle this. Sometimes we even become wiser from such events happening or to learn how to avoid the stress, threat and gentle shock so far.
If we then are exposed to violent or multiple shocks, the bodies own natural ability to move forward may be disabled. In this case there is a risk that the shock to the system become trapped, limiting our self-expression and preventing us from living life to the full.
The therapy consists of working with the body’s innate healing resources, restoring balance to the nervous system and dissolving the reactions caused by trauma, allowing the individual to live life free of troublesome symptoms and restrictions.
Here are a few examples of trauma
- Falls (i.e. ski, bike or similar)
- Car accident
- Operations
- Violence, physical and mental verbally (bullying)
- Severe rejection, death, loss of job, unexpected divorce, breaks in the family
- Failure of physical defence (not being able to defend against the threat)
- Sexual abuse
- Animal Attacks
- PTSD
- Stress
The symptoms can appear as:
- Turmoil
- Anxiety
- Constant crying
- Powerlessness
- Over Still / hyper – running away from the felt sense
- Insomnia
- Pain
- Claustrophobia
- Depression
- Lack of contact and attention to your own body
If you or someone you know can recognize any of the above and would like to work with it, you are welcome to get in contact. It’s never too late to work with trauma. Not even many years later.
I offer SE therapy at half price as I am in training for my last year (the training takes 3 years) I have completed the course in May 2016.
Somatic Experiencing® method was developed by Peter A. Levine Ph. D, psychologist and biophysics ‘cist. He studied the animals’ response to stress and threats to their lives and wondered why they were not traumatized.
From a lifelong study of animal and human activity reactions and our nervous system function, which we largely have in common with animals, he has developed Somatic Experiencing® as a method.
